Is my date available?

This is the first question you should ask your baker. Many bakeries in the area (myself included) are very small operations. That being said, some reservations are made as early as 15 months before the actual date and as late as days prior to the event. Months like April, May and October fill up fast. Once you have your date set and venue booked, we recommend checking dates with potential vendors. We’ve had people send pictures and asking questions, spending hours talking cake just to find out we’re not available. The last thing anyone wants to do is waste time. If your preferred vendors are booked, ask them if they have any references. Sometimes they can help you find the next best thing!

How far in advance do you make the cake?
To ensure you have a delicious, fresh cake for your special event, we typically make cakes no more than two days before your party. Though there are exceptions to the two-day rule, we do all we can do to ensure your cake is as fresh and delicious as possible.

What type of ingredients do you use in your recipes? Are your recipes from scratch?
We use ingredients like real butter, Madagascar vanilla, and fresh fruit in all recipes. All cakes, fillings and buttercream icings are used with quality ingredients. Our cakes are handmade and made with love.

Do you offer organic, dairy or gluten-free products?
Most definitely!

How long have you been in business?
We’ve been in business since 2012 and decorating cakes since 2004.

Are you a licensed business?
Yes.

Are you professionally trained or self-taught?
I’m self-trained. YouTube, and I have a strong relationship!

How many wedding cakes do you book in a year?
It’s been growing every year, but in 2016, we booked 35-40 weddings and even more birthdays parties.

What are your specialties?
Buttercream! I’m a wiz at smoothing a beautiful buttercream cake and crafting handmade buttercream and gum paste flowers. I love creating painterly cakes and white birch tree cakes. Also, I really enjoy creating 2 and 3D characters out of chocolate and fondant.

Do you create your own custom designs?
Yes! In fact, I encourage it! Caking outside the box isn’t just my tagline. I want all our customers to personalize their cakes to make them their own!

I have a family recipe that I love! Could you make it for my special day?
Of course!

Do you cover your cakes with fondant or buttercream?
We prefer to cover cakes in buttercream; however, we often use fondant to decorate buttercream cakes.

How do you price your cakes?
We price cakes by the serving. Starting tiered cakes at $4 a slice and cupcakes at $3. For those of you with a tight budget, don’t let those numbers scare you. We do offer free estimates and give you 3-6 different ways we could
approach your design and budget.

How do you recommend saving the top tier of your wedding cake?
We don’t! We offer all wedding clients a chance to save a few bucks on their cake. We create a small top tier replica of your wedding cake for your first year. This way, you’re not denied a tasty beautiful treat for tradition’s sake!

Do you have price minimum?
We do not have a price minimum.

How far do you deliver, and what do you charge for delivery?
We’ve traveled as far as 250 miles for a cake. Though we don’t recommend it, it can be done. Our delivery fees start at $10 in Cape and charged per mile outside of city limits.

How far in advance should I order my cake?
We recommend to all customers that as soon as they have a date, they should give us a call. Though we prefer at least two week’s notice, that’s not always possible. Regardless of when you make your order, we will do our best to make it happen!

Do I have to put money down to save the date?
Of all weddings and large parties, we require a save the date deposit of $100.
This fee goes toward your large order and is non-refundable.

How many payments are there? When are they due?
For all large orders and wedding cakes, your payments are split into two payments. Half of your payment is due one month prior to your date (this includes your $100 date reservation) and is non-refundable. The second payment is due two weeks before delivery. For small orders, payments can be made via cash, check or card on the day of delivery.

What is your policy of cancellations?
For parties that require date reservation, a 50% deposit is required and due one month prior to the date and is non-refundable. If you cancel or reschedule before the one month, you will forfeit your $100 date reservation payment. You’ll have up to 12 months to reschedule your party and retain the rest of your 50% deposit.

Do you offer taste testings?
Yes! We offer a full consultation for 4 people for $50. For more information, check out the consultation page!

Who cuts the cake?
If we’re available, we’re happy to cut and serve your cake! We do charge a $50 fee. We’re always happy to educate your cake cutters on how to properly cut and serve your large cake.
